How it works
01 Assessment
The first step under the Mica Redress Scheme is to appoint a Chartered Engineer, who after completing a Building Condition Assessment, will provide an opinion on the causes of cracking.
If the defects recorded are suspected to be defective blocks, the Engineer will then assign the appropriate testing required.
02 Sampling
The Chartered Engineer shall exercise professional judgement in specifying the number and specific location of samples to be taken (there will be a minimum of eight core/cut samples to avoid repeat visits and also allow for additional testing, where required).
Our equipment uses a vacum process, allowing for zero damage to the existing building. Internal core samples are removed in a dust free environment. All core-holes are restored to pre-sampling state.
03 Testing
Samples taken will be collated accurately and packaged individually. They are recorded and detailed on a sample record and chain of custody form, in accordance with the N.S.A.I. Irish Standard 465:2018, and forwarded to the laboratory for relevant inspections carried out by a professional Geologist.
The Chartered Engineer, in consultation with the professional Geologist will review the results and determine the appropriate remedial works to be undertaken.
